Objects of desire: Capri pants

Ever since my favourite pair of capris more or less fell apart last year, I have been searching for a new pair.

These by Tarantula clothing are the most similar to my worn out pair:

And these, by M&S are always a timeless classic

It's just a shame they don't come in black.

But so far the best selection I've found comes from Pinupgirl Clothing, though they are a bit out of my price range.

Aren't they just great?

I'll keep on hunting for that perfect pair, and as soon as I find them, you'll be the first to know. I would also love it if you would send me some of your recommendations.

Pink and more pink

I've been known to have an occasional obsession with pink. This one is an unidentified pink nail polish, probably something from 50's fever by essence, with  Circus Circus (also by essence) pink glitter 04 cotton candy.  The butterfly is from my new Ebay goodie bag and... I really could have done a better job with these.

Istrakon and shoes saved

This weekend was very unusual as far as my weekends go.
We spent it in Pazin, in the heart of Istra,  at a fantastic sf and fantasy convention called Istrakon we visit every year. 3 days of absolute geekdom, fantastic scenery and culinary delights. What more could a girl want?

I traveled as light as possible, meaning I commandeered only half of a VW Golf trunk for my needs, and managed to save several pairs of shoes.

I traveled in my hi top baseball shoes, mostly because we took the dog with us and left him with my mother in law along our way.  I didn't really take photos of myself during those three days, so I can't show you the full outfits, but I did take photos of the saved shoes, for future reference.
So, first off, the baseball shoes:
Aren't they oh so stylish? No, I don't think they are either. But I do wear them a lot.

Once there I changed into a skirt and kitten heels. This was, in retrospect, not a very clever idea seeing how it got really really cold at night and I froze my getaway sticks almost completely off.

Saturday was the main event day, and I changed into my costume- Sandman's sister- Death. We had our (almost) traditional coffee in the small fortified city of Motovun, and I braved the steep, cobbled streets in my New Rock boots.

They aren't as heavy as they look, though they did provide me with a good workout.

While we didn't have lunch in Motovun, which I regret a bit, especially since the whole town seemed permiated by a distinct fragrance of truffles the city is famous for, we did go to the pizzeria we always visit for their amazing "white" pizzas. Mine was with wild asparagus, while husband opted for the funghi and truffles one.
We returned to Zagreb on Sunday, but not before a final attempt at a cup of coffee right outside the con grounds:

I'm the one on the far left, with the red bandana and a very tired look on my face. It was quite a weekend.

We made two stops in Rijeka on our way back. One was to pick up the dog, where my mother in law also gave me a present: A new pair of shoes!

And I was trying so hard to be good and not buy any new ones, but it seems new shoes are my destiny, one way or another.
The second stop was to visit the brother in law who gave us delicious cheese and 3 bottles of white wine he made in his small winery. I hid them away the moment we got home, because otherwise it would have vanished within two days. My brother in law's white wine tends to have an amazingly short shelf life in this household...
I also came back with several new books, as always, and can't wait to find the time to read them.

Tiny things of joy

My new nail art supplies arrived.

Here they are:

The shiny:

The cute:

And the just plain weird (but they have oh so much heart):

I'm going to have so much fun with these today!

Polka dots and other shenanigans and an event p.s.

I felt inspired the other day.

This seems to be a recurring problem with me lately.
So  to express my love for polka dots, bows, hearts and the ever famous leopard print, I made this:

And the other hand:

It's such a shame the patterns bled a little when I was applying the clear top coat, but that will teach me to rush things, I guess. This was great fun to do, a lot less fun to photograph. I'm never sure what I should be holding in my freakish hands in order to best showcase the designs.

Oh well, the quest, I guess, continues!

Do tell me how you like it, I'd love to hear from you!

p.s. Just a quick note to all the Zagreb crowd, that I'll be wearing some lovely clothes by Azdaja Brand in a fashion show tomorrow, so if you want to come and see me (quite possibly) fall down on the stage, you are hereby cordially invited!

Shoperwoman's new shoe challenge! and other, less important things

Well,  it's that time of the year again, the horrible scary time where I take my miner's helmet and a notepad and dive into the depths of my closet, accompanied by my ever faithful feline explorer, and ask the question nobody (least of all my long-suffering husband) wants to know the answer to.
The question is, naturally: Just how many pairs of shoes do I own?

The answer this year is 28.

That is, naturally, not counting that one special pair of painted Doc Marten's , a pair of flip-flops and emergency flats (which are always in my purse when I'm out in heels somewhere. Because you just never know.). And not counting the four pairs of shoes I just put  up for sale online.

Perhaps this year I'll manage to wear all 28 pairs at least once, since I failed so miserably last year and gave up on the challenge because, well, truth be told, I just didn't go out. So this  year I will try to take more strolls outside in the fresh air, see more friends for coffee and give my much loved shoes an airing out.

In other news, I have re-discovered my affection for Japanese nail design, so there is a fair chance you'll be seeing some more of this too. Especially since I have a shipment of cute embellishments coming any day now. Prepare for tiny slices of fimo fruit to be paraded on your screen. Isn't it just what your life needed? I know, I know, you'd all be so lost without me.
This is my second attempt at something like that this week:

And with this lovely picture of me squeezing the life out of a completely artificial flower (because the harming of real flowers is best left to my faithful feline friend), I say toodles and prance off to hunt down more fake flowers to shove into my hair. Spring is here, after all!

Nailed it... or not really

This is what I've been doing this morning.

I suppose the next attempt will be better. Perhaps I'll even find something to hold the dog didn't chew on.

And yes, this is just a short update to let you know I'm still alive.
Seeing how silly nails are my current obsession, you might even get to see more of these.
