40's style wrap dress by Cherise Design

If there is one thing I really love about vintage fashion, it is how so much of it used to be bespoke.
Unless you are one of those lucky few who have perfect measurements, nothing off the rack will fit perfectly, there will always be just that little bit of something that could fit better. Unless, of course, you opt for more modern fabric with more stretch in them.

I buy off the rack, of course, and write reviews on brands and types of dresses based on my figure, and on general quality of the items, but I love bespoke items. These days they are often only a little bit pricier than a good quality repro brand, and I thoroughly enjoy the personal touch and approach that comes with it.

Since bespoke pieces are such labours of love, it isn't often that I get one for reviewing, but Cherise Design were kind enough to send me a dress made to my precise measurements.

And the dress was, of course, everything I hoped for, and even more. It is a perfect fit and absolutely beautifully made. The pattern itself is a slightly modified 1940s sewing pattern, and an absolute dream. I adore wrap dresses, but most of them are always a bit too wide for me in the waist, but not this one. I also love the diamond detailing on the side and the waterfall drape in the front. It is just so flattering!

And just to make things even better, Cherise Design are also offering a discount code: VENUS for 20% off. The discount is valid until the end of this year and can be applied on anything in the store (including already discounted items)!

I wore the dress to work last Friday, and got so many compliments! After spending the whole day in it, it barely had a wrinkle, which is always a special bonus when wearing vintage style garments!

The lovely Black Cat jewellery Store provided me with the birdcage medallion and gorgeous green ring which were just a prefect match for this dress. I already swooned over how much I love their designs and the amount of attention they provide to details in their work. It just seemed so fitting to join those two together!

I also used this chance to take some nice photos of my new retro bike (the vintage design was, just like the dress, slightly modified). It is made by Cinzia, and is their Liberty model. Of course, I refer to it as a she, and even though she is an italian lady, I call her Mademoiselle Velo. You can tell my French is horribly rusty.

Until next time!
