I always
have a strange relationship with nautical patterns. On one hand, I love them
and want to have them all, and of course nothing screams summer quite like a
novelty nautical print, or a vaguely sailor-inspired ensemble, but when it comes
to actually wearing it, certain problems arise.
I mean, it’s
definitely not tacky wearing it inland, because it is obvious you are wishing
you were somewhere on holiday, but wearing it at a seaside kind of does scream
tourist, or in some unfortunate cases, is even a tad tacky. I’m glad to say that this Marin dress by HellBunny from Rockabilly Pinup isn’t the least bit tacky.
So while this dress may not necessarily travel down to the seaside
with me this year, I will be wearing the absolute heck out of it this summer! I
mean, it does have things I like in summer dresses – mid weight cotton, just
enough to give support without being stifling, a nice full skirt (but then
again, I like nice full skirts all year around), pockets (let me repeat that- POCKETS!!!!), and
a zipper fastening with a tiny hook fastening above it to make sure no mishaps
occur.
I could,
and will, also gush about its construction, because seriously, it is a thing of
beauty! It is incredibly well tailored, with a cotton lined bodice, and has
a bit of stretch to ensure a wonderful fit. I really appreciate the
adjustable straps, as it helps ensure fit for different body types!
In fact,
you know what, I’m taking it to the seaside, and I will strut around in it as
proud as cat! See if I don't!
And I will
be taking my wired Be Bop a hairbands bandana too because let’s face it, the
polka dot and the reverse, anchor print are just the right pairing for it, as is
the vintage necklace from Retro house!
Until next
time!
xoxo
p.s. As always, thanks to Villy V for the pics!
