Hello guys
and gals! I am so excited to finally be able to show you my latest collab!
It
was with The Seamstress of Bloomsbury, a shop I have been a fan of for ages
now. They specialize in authentic vintage reproductions, from the cut and the
patterns right down to the fabric.
The three
garments I chose were a blouse, a dress and a beautiful siren suit, and since I
really want to take the time to do a proper review, each will get their own
blog post.
The photos
were taken at the Nikola Tesla Technical museum here in Zagreb, and they were
incredibly sweet and forthcoming! So here is a HUGE thank you to them and also
a thank you to Villy V who took the photos and Brocade Budoir and Ivy who acted
as set mistresses! I would really be lost without you!
The first
off is the Greta Blouse. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it on their
website. It’s a wrap blouse (always a soft spot for me), in a beautiful cream
colour and the best thing of all is its waist length! Do you have any idea how
difficult it is to find a blouse like that? Well, I do.
Now, crepe
de chine (or rayon) isn’t a material a lot of people are used to these days,
but to me it brought back images of my grandma’s Sunday dresses- beautiful
things that were treated with love and care! What I’m saying is- it needs
ironing. But then again, most of my clothes do, so that’s not really an issue. Proper
vintage repro garments are and should be all about the right fit and the right
figure, and if you want stretch and non-iron, there are plenty of vintage
inspired or modern clothes that will do the trick.
The fit is
excellent, it runs true to size, and the ruffling on the front, back and
sleeves really gives it a sweet and feminine look, while the wrap allows for a
very flattering neckline. The wrap is super long, so you can tie it in the
front, like I did, for a bit of a dramatic effect, or tie it in the back for a
sweet accent.
The blouse
immediately became my go-to top for anything remotely serious or business like,
and I love wearing it with a cardigan now that the weather is still a bit cool.
For the
shoot I paired it with a vintage brooch and my favourite pencil skirt, seamed
stockings and high lace-up shoes. You can find the set on my polyvore!
Until next time!
xoxo
