As soon as
someone says vintage, the first thing that pops to everybody’s mind is polka
dots. This has the unfortunate side effect that wearing polka dots can make you
look too costumey or like you are just trying way too hard.
This is why
this Belsira dress was such a lovely and welcome surprise. It just screams
pinup, without looking too much like a costume.
Even though
it is more modern pin-up oriented, with a plunging neckline (well, at least as
far as I am concerned) and a shorter hemline than I usually wear, I added a
poofy petticoat underneath, and let it be clearly visible, for that extra
cheeky and adorable look.
As with all
the Belsira stuff I wore so far, they paid attention to the details, such as
the little buttons on the sleeve cuffs and the addition of a cute, bright red
belt. I was really looking forward to adding this dress to my closet, not just
because of the slightly higher waist line, which gives it a very cute look, but
also because I love the contrasting black and polkadot panels. Belsira is
really dedicated to making wearable, everyday pinup fashion.
The dress
is made of the same scuba-like material that should be comfortable enough for
everyday wear without getting too stuffy, and I think it will make a very
welcome addition to my early autumn wardrobe. Even though I wore it on a very warm summer
day when we were shooting this, I can’t say I came even close to overheating,
and even though I was a bit warm, I was still quite comfortable.
The only
thing I am not 100% certain about is the size. Even though I took a size S,
which is my usual fit, I think it might just run a tiny bit small, and half a
size larger would have been perfect. Still, won’t stop me from wearing it!
Until next
time!
Xoxo
